Both the suspect and victim of Wednesday night's fatal shooting at downtown Greenville's landmark Calhoun Towers are now identified, and the police report hints that the gunfire might have erupted during a drug deal.

City police who heard the gunshot found the fatally wounded victim, 51-year-old Timothy Kelly, outside what is now known as Towers-East apartments shortly after 7:30. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the parking lot fronting onto North Main. Kelly lived in the building.

Police say the suspect, Ronald Moore, did not live in the building. Their report says, he was arrested without incident as he walked away from the area. Moore is charged with murder, possession of a weapon in a violent crime and drug possession.
