Nearly entire town in Western North Carolina was locked down Thursday due the threat of a potential active shooter. Officials in the town of Highlands say someone called 9-1-1 saying they had a gun and had a daycare center in their line of sight.

A 2nd call then came in who reported a person matching the description of the potential suspect. Highlands Episcopal Daycare was then put on lockdown and several nearby buildings were evacuated. Highlands School was also placed on lockdown.

The North Carolina State Bureau Of Investigation was called into assist the Macon County Sheriff's Office and Highlands Police Department. A bomb threat was also reportedly made and a bomb squad from the Asheville area was sent to the area.

Sources close to the situation have told me that the situation stemmed from a domestic issue. Nobody was hurt in the incident and no shots were reportedly fired.

The suspect has not been identified, as of the time of this report.
