With an hour before the start of a county-wide 10 p.m. curfew, protestors continued to gather outside of the Brooklyn Center, Minnesota police precinct in response to the death of Daunte Wright on Wednesday.
In response to the protests, officials announced a dispersal order and declared the protest an unlawful assembly which was met with honks and screams from the protestors.
Outside the precinct, there was a line the length of the building of officers and some type of tactical vehicle with a nonlethal weapon that was armed and pointed at the crowd of protestors.
Officers deployed tear gas as well as pepper spray in an attempt to break up the crowd calling for justice for Daunte Wright.
Unsure if it was officers or national guard members, WCCO Reporter Sloane Martin observed the protests and the movements being made behind the make-shift fence surrounding the precinct.
Before the 9 p.m. hour, things were more peaceful before officers declared the unlawful assembly and began using nonlethal projectiles in an attempt to disperse the crowd, Martin said.
Officers also began to threaten arrests if protestors do not disperse shortly.
Protestors continued to fire off fireworks on their side of the fence as the night continued and had not begun to disperse despite the announcements made.
