K-9 Deputy Santos of The Florence County Sheriff’s Office, is in line to receive a bullet and stab protective vest. Expected to arrive by mid-April, the vest will be donated by the non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a charity that provides the protective vests to law enforcement dogs in the U.S. So far, the non-profit organization has supplied over 5,882 vests to K9s in all 50 states.

K9 Deputies with the Greenville Police Department and Sheriff's Office have also been recipients of the protective vests.

Based in Massachusetts, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. does accept tax-deductible contributions. A single K9 vest costs around $1,050.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest.
