The South Carolina Supreme Court has ordered a convicted killer who was released early to be returned to prison. The decision was made Wednesday to return Jeroid Price to prison after his 16-year early release last month on his 35-year murder sentence.
Price was serving the sentence after being convicted of the 2002 nightclub shooting death of former college football player Carl "Dash" Smalls Jr. He was released more than a decade ahead of the state-required 30-year minimum murder sentencing following an order requested by his attorney that was signed by the now-retired judge Casey Manning.
Both Governor McMaster and State Attorney General Alan Wilson pushed back following the release of the order. The 3-2 Supreme Court decision Wednesday vacated that ruling, which means Price will be heading back to prison to finish his sentence.
