Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division have arrested a now former Darlington Police Officer. On Friday, SLED charged Thomas ‘Trey’ Franklin James III, 31, of Darlington, with Misconduct in Office and Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin.
Warrants claim that while on duty, James had bought and used heroin and following a search, six-tenths of a gram were found in his patrol vehicle. SLED said witness statements and James' confession corroborated the details of the incident. James was immediately terminated by the Darlington Police Department.
