Governor McMaster at a joint press conference Wednesday afternoon received the Susan B. Anthony Lists' first endorsement of the 2022 election cycle.
Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser announced the endorsement at the press conference, complimenting he and his team's work pushing against abortion in the state from limiting tax funds for abortion clinics and his signing of the Fetal Heartbeat Bill.
“Governor McMaster and Lt. Gov. Evette make a powerful team fighting for unborn children and mothers in the Palmetto State," Dannenfelser said. "Acting on the will of the people, Gov. McMaster championed legislation based on the science that unborn babies have a heartbeat as early as five weeks and signed it immediately into law. He is leading the charge to humanize our nation’s radical abortion precedents at the U.S. Supreme Court so that states can finally enact popular limits on abortion."
Dannenfelser continued that feels governors around the nation have an important role in the current legal push against abortion.
Governor McMaster and Lt. Governor Pamela Evette both thanked Dannenfelser and her organization for the endorsement and for their efforts in pushing against abortion.
"I'm honored to earn the support of Susan B. Anthony List and I'm grateful for their hard work," McMaster said. “I believe we have a duty to see all of our people, young, old, and everyone in between, including those yet to be born to experience this life that we have in this state, in this county, and on this earth."
