It’s been nearly three decades since Ayanna Williams has cut her fingernails.
The Houston, Texas-based woman is known as the woman with the world’s longest fingernails, but a few days ago, she finally did the deed and cut her famously long claws.
A Guinness World Records title holder, it was a bittersweet moment for Williams who loves nails and nail art.
But, Saturday, Dr. Allison Readinger of Trinity Vista Dermatology in Forth Worth, used an electric rotary tool to sever William’s nails.
According to Guinness, Williams broke her own record for the longest fingernails on a pair of women’s hands with a new length of 733.55 cm (24 ft 0.7 in), since letting them grow from their initial confirmation in 2017.
Before the big cut, it would take Williams three to four bottles of nail polish to cover all ten of her nails and normal every day activities such as washing the dishes or putting sheets on the bed were severely hampered.
