the rich keefe show: Bill Burr lashes out at Belichick haters
The vast majority of people in the Boston, Foxborough, and New England area have been all over head coach Bill Belichick amid their 2-7 start to the 2023 season. They’re the worst team in the AFC, have one of the worst offenses in football, and in return, fans have begun to question the one deemed the greatest coach of all time.
One person who still has Belichick’s back? Massachusetts native, comedian, and noted Patriots fan Bill Burr.
The one-time Grammy and one-time Emmy nominee spoke to our very own Stiz Grimey, the NEW executive producer of WEEI's The Rich Keefe Show, at Comics Come Home 27 in Boston this weekend about the state of the Patriots, and defended the head coach:
“Why don’t you guys relax,” Burr said as he berated those who are calling for Belichick's job.
He continued, “He has eight rings. He has one more than Brady. He shut down John Elway. I’m done talking about this. The run and gun. Greatest Show on Turf. Won three with a sixth round draft pick. And then everybody then was calling Brady a system quarterback, and then they win three more and all of a sudden Brady knows everything and Belichick doesn’t know anything. Right? And everybody forgets the [Seahawks] victory. And everybody says that Pete Carroll screwed up rather than that was an unbelievable coaching job by Bill Belichick and his crew to have that defense ready for that play.”
