The Padres announced on Tuesday that they have placed Lucas Giolito on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation. Giolito has mostly struggled in seven appearances with the Padres, pitching to a 5.16 ERA and 1.85 whip while striking out 18 and walking 23 hitters in 29.2 innings. JP Sears was recalled from Triple-A El Paso to take his spot in the rotation.
