The Padres lost to the Rangers on Friday evening in a game that couldn't have started out any better for the Friars. The Padres scored 5 runs off of Jacob deGrom in the top of the 1st inning, highlighted by Ty France's 2-out grand slam. The lead didn't last long at all however, as the Rangers returned the favor by scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st, as the Padres watched the lead they built evaporate. Ty France's second home run of the game, a solo shot in the 4th inning, briefly tied the game at 4, but Wyatt Langford put the Rangers back on top with an RBI-double in the bottom of the inning. After Ezequiel Duran's RBI-single in the 6th made it an 8-6 game, Gavin Sheets got the Padres back to within a run with a solo homer in the top of the 8th, but Wyatt Langford immediately responded with a solo homer of his own in the bottom of the 8th, as the Rangers won 9-7. It was a tough night for Randy Vasquez and the Padres top hitters. Vasquez would allow 7 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks in just 3.1 innings. Meanwhile, despite scoring 7 runs on 10 hits, Fernando Tatis Jr., Jackson Merrill, Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts combined to go 0-17 with 7 strikeouts. Walker Buelher will start for the Padres on Saturday afternoon.
