This rat’s packed in tight. So much so the little, well big, animal was in need of some help. In fact, it took several firefighters in Germany to rescue the rather rotund rodent from a sewer grate.
"She had a lot of winter flab and was stuck fast at her hip - there was no going forward or back," said animal rescuer Michael Sehr.
Crews had to prop up the grate and use a rescue loop to pull the animal to freedom. The little girls, who initially found the trapped curvaceous critter, thanked the firefighters with this sweet drawing of hearts surrounding the rat.

"Even animals that are hated by many deserve respect," Sehr told media.
