On her wedding day this bride is not only celebrating marrying the love of her life, but also overcoming major spinal surgery.

Just six-months before her big day, Kelsey Pfleiderer had surgery to remove a tumor in her spine, which had been crushing some of her vertebrae.

It took intensive physical therapy in order for the 26-year-old Florida woman to be able to walk down the aisle- her stunning backless wedding gown spotlighting her scar.

Kelsey says the mark “snatched me out of my ‘normal’ life forever, the one that caused pains I still cannot begin to wrap my head around, the one that left a big question mark on what the future will look like for the rest of my life.”

She’s not the first bride to highlight the memory of a painful time with her wedding dress.

At Princess Eugenie’s recent royal wedding, she also showed off a long scar on her back. The bride requested to highlight her scar from an eight hour corrective spinal surgery she had when she was 12-years-old for scoliosis.
