Chilling weather has hit a number of places in the Southeast this winter, including Greenville, South Carolina, where a brisk Friday that saw temperatures just above freezing brought the best in one cookie loving resident.
Members of Girl Scout troop 1574 were selling Tagalongs and Samoas outside a grocery store when a man bought seven boxes of cookies, giving the girls 40 dollars and telling them to keep the change.
Overpaying for cookies wasn’t the end of the man’s generosity though. He came back a short time later and bought out the rest of the cookie stock for $540, saying he wanted the girls to be able to pack up and get out of the cold.
Kayla Dillard who oversees cookie sales for the troop told CBS the hundreds of boxes the man bought likely would have taken days to sell. “We actually had to cancel some of our booth sales this weekend because we didn’t have cookies to sell at the booth because he purchased them all,” she said.
Dillard posted a picture of a couple scouts and the man, who didn’t give his name, on Facebook where it’s been shared close to 10,000 times already.
It might be hard for the man to remain anonymous for long though. You tend to stick out when the entire back seat of your car is full Do-Si-Dos.
