Patron Leaves $1,000 Tip at Jersey Shore Restaurant

OCEAN GROVE, N. J. (1010 WINS) --  A patron at a Jersey Shore restaurant left a server a massive tip to show appreciation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A longtime customer of The Starving Artist Restaurant in Ocean Grove left a $1,000 gratuity on a $43.18 tab.

He also left a note for the owner thanking him for delicious food and great smiles.

"We are thankful for your delicious food and great smiles, please know we appreciate you very much," the note said.

Arnold Teixeira, the restaurant's owner posted the receipt on the restaurant's Facebook page.

"This act of generosity and kindness goes beyond words!"

"The note that accompanied the check made us all cry! Thank you from the depths of our hearts!" Teixeira added.

According to Teixeira, the tip was split among the seven staff members working that day.
