Being in the hospital is anything but a day at the beach, but nurses at the Swedish American Hospital in Illinois tried to make it feel a little more like that for some babies deserving of fun in the sun.
Hospital staff dressed the newborns up for a luau and captured the incredible moment on camera for mom and dad. The babies wore bathing suits, and even had palm trees, beach balls and buckets of sand for the perfect staycation.
Parents there say it made the Illinois hospital ward feel a little more bright and a little less scary. According to the nurses, these beach days and other fun events help parents cope with the stress of having a sick newborn.
What’s a better way to enjoy summer than bringing the beach to those who need it?
