One of my favorite hobbies that I haven't been able to enjoy for the last 4 months is going to the theater down the street early in the afternoon, dropping a couple bucks and sitting down to my own movie marathon. Of course, like pretty much everything else, movie theaters have been closed for quite some time due to COVID-19.

AMC Theaters announced their plan to re-open at least 100 locations on August 20th, with tickets at just 15 cents for select movies, in celebration of what a ticket cost when the first AMC Theater opened in Kansas City, Missouri in 1920. The eligible movies for the one-day only price include Black Panther, Beauty and the Beast, Back to the Future, Grease, Ghostbusters, and Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. Those movies will have screenings for just five dollars beginning the next day.

Yes, this does include the AMC Dine-In Disney Springs 24, thought I haven't seen confirmation from the Universal CityWalk location.

Though there was some initial uncertainty about their plan to open back up, and some backlash, AMC Theaters will require masks to be worn.

If you're planning to get back to theaters, you have a few new premieres to look forward to. AMC confirmed that Disney's New Mutants will debut on August 28, with Christopher Nolan's TENET on September 3. Some smaller new releases are also planned for late August, including Unhinged and Personal History of David Copperfield.
