Tuesday morning, police officers in Arlington were called to round up a group of goats that had escaped their enclosures and were wandering around different area neighborhoods.
Arlington Police Sgt. Alex Rosado told FOX 4, "It looks like they may have gotten out of the fence, or the fence fell, we don't know exactly what happened, but they got out."
Nearly 200 goats escaped from the Crystal Canyon Natural Area, though officers were able to wrangle them up. Eventually.
"Who knew we were goat wranglers now," an officer said with a laugh in bodycam footage.
The goats were actually brought to Arlington to do some work.
The city partnered with Crystal Canyon Natural Area to have the goats eat underbrush and invasive plants in order to clear waterways and reduce the risk of fire.
Michael Debrecht, the assistant director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Arlington, said, "They eat the species, and you'll have them fertilize the land as well, so it's more natural."
Authorities believe some hikers may have moved the fence of their enclosure, allowing the goats to escape.
