Colleges all across the nation are celebrating their graduates right now.
Very few might be younger than Hana Taylor Schlitz. She’s not celebrating her bachelor’s degree, though.
No, Schlitz graduated from Texas Woman’s University with that in 2024. Hana received her master’s degree from the University of North Texas at Dallas and did so at just 18-years-old!
Even more, Schlitz nearly died as an infant from tuberculosis and wants to pursue a career in disaster management and help eradicate the disease.
She told FOX 4, “It's honestly surreal being able to be in this position.”
Schlitz graduated with a master's degree in public leadership and administration and has a summer internship lined up at Dallas Love Field in Aviation Emergency Management and Communications.
She now plans on getting her doctorate degree, hoping to pursue a career in emergency disaster management or disaster science.
"The system made it possible for me to be here, and I want to make it possible for others to get the help that they need to make themselves a story — a shining light for their own people,” she said.
