There have been many sequels and reboots made over the years, but rarely do those franchises decide to change up the genres for the new movie. However, that's exactly what's happening to the 'Bring It On' franchise. It was announced recently that a 'Bring It On' sequel is in the works, but this time the film will be a cheerleader slasher movie.
'Bring It On' was released in 2000, becoming a teen classic and spawning multiple sequels since. Now, the new 'Bring It On: Halloween' will air on Syfy next year, but with a much different theme than the other films. According to NME, the film will follow an embattled cheerleading squad "held down by restrictive rules" that seeks "the freedom of a creepy, closed school gym to practice for regionals."
While a possible 'Bring It On' reboot with the original cast has been discussed, it is unlikely it will be the slasher version of the film. Still, many fans of the franchise are excited to see how the film translates to the new genre. If successful, plenty more sequels should be expected.
