The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is not only a lovely place for humans to enjoy anymore.

As of late, the Botanic Garden has become a "nighttime hotspot" for bats!

FWBG Herbarium Collections Manager Ashley Bales told NBC DFW, "Yes. So although this area is very open and spacious, almost empty, once it gets dusk till dawn, this is like prime area for the bats to be swooping in and kind of taking over."

The garden is in the midst of an enormous study, the North American Bat Monitoring Program, with the help of the Cross Timbers Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists, whose goal is to identify bat species and migratory patterns.

So far, five species of bats have been identified at the FWBG; the Mexican free-tailed bat, Evening bat, Tricolored bat, Eastern red bat, and the Hoary bat.
