Despite protests and concerns from a number of parents and residents, the city of Burleson has recently voted to allow alcohol sales at Chisenhall Fields Sports Complex, a popular venue for youth baseball and softball games.

The Burleson City Council passed the motion with a vote of 5-2, but according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the council reserves the right to amend the alcohol sales policy at a future meeting.

Parks and Recreation Director Jen Basham said that allowing alcohol sales at the complex would increase concession revenues by more than $1 million over a five-year period.

However, there were concerns raised by parents of poor behavior from adults seen drinking at youth sporting events.

The City Council is now expected to fine tune the specifics of the alcohol sales policy at its Dec. 15 meeting.
