Colossal Biosciences is at it again.
The Dallas-based company has been hard at work trying to revive extinct animals like the direwolf, the woolly mammoth, and the dodo bird, but they’ve undertaken a side quest at the request of one of the greatest NFL players of all time.
Colossal Biosciences recently cloned the beloved dog of future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady. Brady’s new dog Junie is a clone of his late dog Lua, who passed away in 2023.
Lua was cloned using blood collected prior to her death in 2023
Brady told PEOPLE, “I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family. A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family's elderly dog before she passed.”
Brady is an investor in Colossal Biosciences, who recently announced the acquisition of another biotech company, Viagen Pets and Equine, who are known for having cloned Barbra Streisand’s dog Samantha, who died in 2017, and Paris Hilton’s dog Diamond Baby into two puppies after the pet went missing in 2022.
Brady added that Colossal Biosciences “gave my family a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog,” and that he is “excited how Colossal and Viagen's tech together can help both families losing their beloved pets while helping to save endangered species.”
