The ocean is home to many creatures most humans will never actually get to see in person. Luckily for those in DFW, one of the animals was recently added to the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park. The aquarium recently unveiled their new Giant Pacific Octopus, the largest octopus species in the ocean.

Over the weekend, the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park’s newest animal made its public debut, stunning many who were able to catch a glimpse. The Giant Pacific Octopus weighs 15 pounds and is known for being a solitary creature that can change color to blend in with its environment. According to NBC DFW, the zoo is yet to name their new animal, and they are hoping for some help from the public.

On Thursday, the zoo will share a naming poll on their social media accounts, and the winning name will eventually be given to the new octopus. For those hoping to catch a glimpse of the massive octopus, the aquarium is open from 9a.m. to 5p.m and the attraction is free for children under two, $9.95 for ages 3 to 12, and $13.95 for those age 13 and up. After seeing this octopus, many will be happy DFW is nowhere near an ocean.
