DFW had another extreme weather scare last week as snow, freezing temperatures and ice on the roads kept many inside. Now, with temperatures up and life back to normal, the city of Dallas wants to make sure residents are prepared for the next bad weather scenario. The city launched a new program on Monday that will help residents prepare their homes for extreme weather.
After last week’s ice storm, the city of Dallas has launched Whole Home Dallas, a program that will help educate homeowners on how to make their homes more energy efficient and resilient to extreme weather. Their website will help facilitate access to resources that could help weatherize homes, according to Fox 4 News.

"It consolidates all the financial incentives now available to residents in our area to upgrade their homes and make them more climate resilient," said senior climate coordinator Pharr Andrews. Some upgrades homeowners can do to help keep their home safe include weather stripping, insulation, caulking, repairing and replacing doors and windows. Hopefully this program is helpful next time there is bad weather.
