For many couples, marriage is expected after being together for a number of years. However, when one man failed to propose to his girlfriend after eight years together, the woman decided to take him to court. A judge recently ruled on the case after a woman claimed her boyfriend failed to pop the question though he promised to do so.
Zambian woman Gertrude Ngoma was upset with her boyfriend of eight years, Herbert Salaliki, after he still had not proposed after promising the two would get engaged. The couple has a child together, and Ngoma claimed her boyfriend had recently been texting another woman. “Your honor, he has never been serious that is why I bought him to court because I deserve to know the way forward and my future with him,” she reportedly complained.
The case quickly went viral, with many commenting she should have left much sooner. Sadly, the judge ruled there was not much he could do since they were not legally wed. Hopefully she isn’t still expecting a marriage proposal.
