Earlier this week, a woman drove up to Station 5 of the Lewisville Fire Department with a problem: her newly acquired pet hamster escaped from its box and grew very curious about the interior of her car.
According to Texas Monthly, the hamster, aptly named Houdini, and made its way behind the car’s cup holders into the center console, and this woman had no way of getting him out.
So the firefighters did what they do, and used some “mechanic magic,” a PetSmart box, and plenty of patience to lure the hamster out.
The rescue attempt was successful, and Houdini was recovered unharmed and reunited with its owner.
The department joked that Houdini “certainly lived up to his name.”
