For those folks that have hundreds, if not thousands, of unread notifications on their phones….just why?

You know you can “mark all messages read” and get rid of all the clutter on your home screen, right?

But before you do that, you’ll want to take a screenshot of your phone because all of those unread messages can actually earn you a vacation.

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines has launched a program called “Enter Airplane Mode,” that gives travelers points for the amount of unread notifications they have on their phones.

Sabrina Callahan, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital & Marketing Officer for the airline, said in a statement on their website, “As the airline that democratized the skies, Southwest Airlines® has always helped make the dream trip a reality and our new campaign, 'Enter Airplane Mode,' encourages Customers to recognize when they're approaching a breaking point and to turn that moment into their booking point.

"With a Customer extension called 'Notification Vacation' we are taking it one step further from simply encouraging you to take the trip to helping you bring it to fruition.”

To earn points for your “notification vacation,” you just need to upload a screenshot of your phone’s home screen showing your unread notification counts at NotificationVacation.com. You get 1 point for every unread notification, up to 10,000 points.

You can also take the Burnout Quiz to gauge your level of burnout and earn an additional 500 points.
