It's always been that when a student misbehaves in school, they are handed some sort of punishment. Does any school still make kids bang erasers after class?
Punishing students is not enough for Dallas ISD it seems, as the district has proposed a measure that would punish the parents for their child misbehaving as well!
According to WFAA, the proposed change would give schools the option to send misbehaving students to six-hour "Saturday school" or community service instead of alternative school, as long as the parents themselves attend a three-hour parenting class.
The classes parents would attend include:
-Support and guidance for areas of student concern -Parenting sessions to review student's academic and behavioral progress -Campus resources to promote positive student outcomes -Mental health support / school counselor involvement
Trustees are scheduled to vote on this new code of conduct proposal sometime in late June.
