As the weather begins to cool, you might notice critters pop out and appear near your homes. Hey, animals enjoy the weather as much as we do.
Sometimes these animals aren't the friendliest, as multiple families in Northeast Dallas have reported an increase in bobcat sightings in their neighborhoods.
Unfortunately, calls to animal services were fruitless as really there is nothing they can do.
Dallas Animal Control said in a statement to NBC DFW, "We do have a substantial population of bobcats across Dallas, so sightings are quite common. The city does not trap, remove, or relocate healthy outdoor wildlife for a multitude of reasons, but encourages healthy coexistence."
You can imagine, some folks have been left a little unsettled when told to try for a "healthy coexistence" with some animals that could be dangerous.
Miller Schunck, a mother of a toddler who has reported bobcat sightings near her home, said, "[The bobcat is] jumping across and then coming down our side yard. It doesn't make me feel great.
"I don't know where else they'll go, and if they're multiplying, which it seems like they are, we're going to have to have a rescue, some sort of bobcat rescue."
Still, she says she is going to do her best to work on a "healthy coexistence."
"I'm not extremely concerned or anything. Just don't mess with them and they won't mess with us," she said.
