Art can be inspired by many things. For David Lee Roth, it’s the past that has been motivating his most recent artworks. The Van Halen frontman has been sharing many of his pieces online recently, and according to the singer; the latest one is based on his brief stint as a radio host.
David Lee Roth shared a four part painting he did this week, and while many fans tried breaking down the meaning of the painting, it was clear to most the piece was inspired by his brief stint as a radio host in New York back in 2006. Roth, who once described his show as “a warm and happy little corner candy store — but Tony Soprano was selling guns out of the back room,” was fired after only a few months. While his radio career was brief, according to his artwork, “the Van Halen lamp was re-lit.”
Roth found out he was fired from his radio job while on the drive into the station for work, according to Blabbermouth. While the Van Halen frontman likely wasn’t happy at the time, it clearly worked out well for him, as he continued having a successful career as a singer. Hopefully more art that reveals Roth’s past is on the way.
