The price of going out to eat has increased tremendously over the years. If you take the entire family out to eat, the check could reach well into hundreds of dollars.
One family from Denton County, though, has gone viral for their money-saving "hacks" that keep their total tab under three bills.
Josh Mileham posted his first video after taking his family out to eat on Cinco de Mayo. In the TikTok, Mileham takes a tortilla from his fajita platter, sprinkles it with cheese, and cooks it under the skillet that came with his meal before giving it to his son.
In another video from Texas Roadhouse, Mileham takes meat from his pulled pork sandwich to make sliders for his four kids using complimentary bread and orders an extra side of fries.
For anyone who's dined at Texas Roadhouse, you know it can be an expensive ticket. For that meal, Mileham paid a total of $17, along with a $20 tip.
Mileham told NBC DFW, "I think we did the math on the Texas Roadhouse one and it would have been $85 if each kid got a kids meal and I got a meal, we got a meal." And most importantly, Mileham says the entire family left the restaurant "full and happy."
There are some detractors though, who have commented on his videos that Mileham and his wife Callie are "cheap" and "disgusting," with one even saying the parents should be "THROWN IN PRISON" for not giving their kids enough food.
However, Mileham doesn't care.
"They ate perfectly fine," he said. "Half the time, they only want to eat the rolls and butter anyways."
