Nobody enjoys getting stuck in traffic, and sadly for DFW drivers they did that quite a bit this year. A new study found that drivers in North Texas spent an average of 56 hours in traffic in 2022. That number helped the metroplex place in the top 20 of the most congested roadways in the entire country.
INRIX, a transportation data and analytics company, recently unveiled the results of their study to find the worst cities for traffic in America. While DFW only ranked 14th on their list, drivers still spent 12 more hours stuck in traffic in 2022 than they did in 2021. According to NBC DFW, this cost local drivers an average of $953.

While DFW drivers spent 56 hours stuck in traffic last year, the national average was only 51 hours. Luckily, that is nothing compared to Houston, which spent 74 hours stuck in traffic in 2022. Hopefully these numbers don’t get any worse, as no one can handle that much time in a car without moving.
