If you’re looking for a new spot to live, there are few better places to look than DFW.

A new study from RentCafe found that DFW is second in the nation in new apartment construction in 2025, adding more rental units to the area than entire states like Georgia and Arizona.

DFW is second only to New York City, by more than 1,000 units.

According to Dallas Morning News, Dallas leads the way as the region’s busiest builder with roughly 5,800 new units expected. Fort Worth will add an estimated 3,800 apartments.  McKinney (2,006), Denton (1,719) and Frisco (1,528) round out the top five.

All the new apartment construction has to keep up with the continued influx of new residents, as DFW adds about 180,000 people a year, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
