When it was first announced that the beloved Chicago fast food chain, Portillo’s, would be coming to DFW, many mouths throughout the metroplex began to water. Sadly, that hunger has lasted longer than expected, as the opening of their first Texas location had been delayed, with no new opening date announced. Luckily for North Texans, that day has finally arrived, as the Portillo’s in The Colony is officially open for business.
On Monday, Portillo’s first Texas location officially opened at Grandscape, the master development near Nebraska Furniture Mart near State Highway 121 and the Dallas North Tollway. According to Dallas Morning News, the fast food restaurant was expected to open late 2022, but construction delays forced them to push it to this week. Now, DFW will finally be able to get a taste of their iconic hot dogs, burgers, fries, onion rings and legendary Italian beef sandwich.

Along with Texas, Portillo’s has expanded from Illinois to California, Florida, Arizona, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin in recent years. They are hoping more Texas locations could be coming soon as well. Maybe one day Texans will think of Portillo’s on the same level as Whataburger.
