Monster movies have been a Hollywood staple for years and any time audiences needs a good scare it seems they always bring back Dracula to deliver the goods. Since the character’s film introduction in the 1920’s, there has not been a decade without a Dracula appearance. Now, director Chloe Zhao has teased her upcoming adaptation; a “sci-fi western” version of Dracula.
With her work for Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ officially wrapped up, director Chloe Zhao appears to be ready to move on to her next project. Earlier this year, it was announced that Zhao would write, direct and produce a new Dracula movie she claimed to be a “sci-fi western” take on the classic gothic horror story. Now, the director has shared a first look at her new character, sharing a photo of Dracula horseback riding.

“I'm a huge fan of the book. And I wanted to see what essence I can find [in Dracula], and then be able to reimagine this really beloved character I love so much,” Zhao said of her new version of Dracula. According to Movie Web, no release date for the film has been announced at this time. Fans will just have to wait and see if horror and western truly mesh.
