Texas Department of Safety Trooper Raymond Torres had a “hoot” of a day according to FOX 7 while driving along I-10 near Van Horn.
The trooper spotted an injured owl in the center median of the interstate and pulled over to check on the injured bird until Texas Parks and Wildlife could arrive.
Texas Parks and Wildlife took the injured owl to the El Paso Zoo where it will be receiving medical treatment.
The Texas Department of Safety wrote in a social media post, “As a trooper, you never know what each day will bring. Moments like this remind us why strong partnerships with other state agencies and the community are so important.”
