For Prince fans, there are many iconic performances that can be called their favorite, but the one people point to most often is Prince's guitar solo during 'My Guitar Gently Weeps' at the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. With a number of stars on stage, Prince was the one that stole the show. Now, the director of that show has released a new edit of the finale, giving fans a look at the performance they have never seen before.
The 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony ended with a tribute to George Harrison, who had recently passed away. The show's finale ended with a jam of one of Harrison's most famous songs, 'My Guitar Gently Weeps,' that included big names such as; Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and of course, Prince. Now, years later the director of that show, Joel Gallen, has decided to revisit the performance, giving it a new edit that includes some never before seen footage, according to Boing Boing.
"I got rid of all the dissolves and made them all cuts, and added lots more close ups of Prince during his solo. I think it's better now," said Gallen. Sadly there is still no answer for what happened to Prince's guitar at the end of the performance.
