When it was first announced that e-scooters would be returning to the streets of DFW, many were worried the same problems that forced them out of the city years ago would return. However, now that they are back with new rules and restrictions, some have begun to change their opinion on e-scooters.
In fact, one of the companies operating in North Texas recently claimed the first few weeks of their return have been a huge success.
Bird is one of three e-scooter companies currently operating in Dallas, and clearly they are happy to be back in the metroplex. According to Dallas Culture Map, Bird claims they had nearly 8,000 rides taken in its first two weeks, with 70% returning as customers. "It’s evident that local residents have been waiting for this moment and we look forward to our long-term partnership with the city,” said Bird president Stewart Lyons.
The company says they hope to replace more than 225,000 car trips over the course of their first full year in Dallas. Their data shows the majority of rides have taken place in West Dallas, Northeast Downtown, and South Downtown. As long as this keeps up, e-scooters may be here to stay.
