The freeze yesterday morning and the chilly weather we'll be experiencing this week means one thing: winter is on its way, y'all.
What used to be a joyous occasion and much-needed break from the heat now induces panic in every Texan, as cold weather now means a chance for another Snowmageddon.
Along with the icy roads and the complete shutdown of our state, we also have all those rolling blackouts to look forward to. After a few years you would think we would be better prepared, and according to ERCOT, we are.
ERCOT says that Texas only has a "16.8%" chance of rolling blackouts this year. Those chances are highest between 8am and 9am according to an ERCOT grid readiness report, and ONLY in a worst-case scenario like the winter storm we had in January.
In similar conditions, the chance of outages would greatly reduce to 4.93% after 9am.
