A former high school soccer coach from North Texas is facing charges of theft of property after he allegedly spent over $5,000 of district money at a strip club in Houston.
JD Bales was an assistant soccer coach at Bridgeport High School in Wise County but resigned from his position after Bridgeport ISD found evidence that he reportedly spent $5,455.81 using a district credit card at The Men's Club of Houston while attending a coaching clinic.
According to MySA.com, Bales had formerly claimed the charges were fraudulent, but police found evidence indicating otherwise. Bales also submitted a payment to the district for the charge.
Bales was hired in 2018 as an assistant soccer coach as well as a special education teacher. A representative from the district said that Bales' resignation was "in the best interest of Bridgeport ISD and the athletic program."
