Cyclists get a bad rap on the roads, mainly from drivers upset after getting stuck behind them. However, it will be hard to stay mad at one group of DFW cyclists after what they did recently. The group halted their ride last week to help save a dog stranded on a bridge, and now many are calling them heroes.

Four bicycle riders from Fort Worth got together for their weekly ride last week, but this one didn't end the way they normally do. While on the 80 mile trip to Dallas and back the group was stopped on a bridge by a woman screaming "there's a dog there's a dog." The group spotted the dog, stranded on a concrete beam just below the road but 15 to 20 feet above the ground, and quickly jumped into action to help.
"As soon as I got over there and grabbed a hold of her, we were golden," said Chris Williamson who went on the beam to help save the dog. According to WFAA, the dog is now with a foster family and Saving Hope Rescue in Fort Worth is raising money to cover the cost of her care. While most cyclists are seen as terrors of the road, this group will now be seen as heroes.
