To get to one of the best bars in the nation, you first have to walk through a tiny coffee shop on Jefferson Blvd in Dallas.
Tucked away inside Xamán Café in Oak Cliff, you’ll find the even smaller Ayahuasca Cantina, which was recently highlighted in Esquire’s list of the 42 “best bars in America!”
Ayahuasca opened in 2020 and features a full menu of food and drinks inspired by Mexico City and Oaxaca. Per the Dallas Morning News, some of the food offerings include pork confit with salsa verde, bone marrow rib-eye tacos, and a new addition the fideo seco con croqueta gobernador, or red snapper tacos.
As for cocktails, co-owner Mauricio Gallegos is most proud of the Ayahuasca, which is a drink made with mezcal, ginger, lime and tepache, a fermentation made from pineapple, piloncillo, anise, and cinnamon.
Ayahuasca Cantina is located at 334 Jefferson Blvd. in Dallas.
