SMU students and Park Cities residents are still mourning the loss of the New York Sub sandwich shop, which closed its doors earlier this year after 53 years in business.
However, the space will soon become occupied by a new establishment, a coffee shop and music hangout from the nephew of Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Rollin Joe’s was created to be a “vibrant gathering place for students, neighbors and visitors alike. The shop is the brainchild of Jones’ nephew, Jerry Mooty, an SMU alum and the CEO and Principal of Christie's International Real Estate @properties Lone Star, and Kirk Thompson, a Panera Bread and Jimmy John’s franchisee.
The owners plan to open multiple Rollin Joe’s locations in college towns, with Park Cities near SMU being the first.
Rollin Joe’s is expected to open at 3411 Asbury St., Dallas, in late summer or early fall 2026.
