Consistently shooting a basketball and making it into the hoop is already a pretty difficult task, which is why any time someone nails a trick shot they react as if they just accomplished the impossible. The internet is full of videos of people making these improbable shots, and the latest earned the shooter a Guinness World Record. The man recently broke the record for the farthest backwards basketball shot, nailing a shot he had been practicing since 2010.
When Jeremy Ware was in high school, he was voted “most likely to break a world record,” and now the 30-year-old former College Basketball player has done just that. The San Antonio Spurs recently helped Ware break the world record for farthest backwards basketball shot, inviting him to their arena for his record breaking attempt. According to Chron, Ware hit the shot standing 85.5 feet from the basket.
The previous record was 84 feet, and an NBA court is only 94 feet long. “Words cannot describe how cool it is. I understand the magnitude of it, and I am deeply honored,” said Ware. Now, he will have to take a few steps forward and see if he can out due himself.
