We’re guessing that even just a couple of weeks into the new school year, a lot of families across North Texas could use a break.
Thankfully, Labor Day is just next week, and Texas is home to two of the best travel destinations in the U.S. for a quick, short getaway.
HomeToGo recently analyzed search patterns for the top 25 destinations in the U.S. that have seen "the strongest year-over-year growth in interest,” and two of those towns include Rockport, in the Texas Gulf Coast, and Wimberley, in the Texas Hill Country.
Rockport came in at No. 19 on the list, and Wimberley at No. 23. Last year, Bolivar Peninsula near Houston was the only Texas town to make the list.
According to the report, searches for Labor Day trips have grown 23 percent since this time last year. The report read, “This year, HomeToGo insights show that travelers are embracing the great outdoors while staying close to home. The results point to a strong preference for nature-rich, waterfront, and under-the-radar escapes across the country.”
Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi; Red River Gorge, Kentucky; and Orcas Island, Washington, were named the top three most popular Labor Day travel destinations in 2026.
