DFW has seen a ton of growth over the last few years, and with even more people expected to move to the metroplex in the coming years, it appears that growth will continue. Already, North Texas has seen a major increase in population over the last five years, and a new report says the next five years may see an even larger increase. According to the report, DFW could have a population of 8.5 million people by 2028.

Site Selection Group recently released the results of their study to find the US metros with the highest expected population growth over the next five years. Their data shows DFW will be the fifth fastest-growing large metro in the country, with a population growth rate of 8.64% in that time frame. That would put the DFW population at 8,479,851 in 2028, according to Dallas Culture Map.

“Although population growth does not guarantee success with hiring and retaining employees, it does provide validation that labor conditions could be trending in a more favorable direction," said the report. DFW wasn’t the only Texas metro on the list, with Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown taking the number one spot on the list and Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land at number two. Based on this study the growth throughout Texas won’t stop any time soon.
