A trip to this dentist might have been a little more painful than usual.
36-year-old Kelly Buck was arrested by the Sherman Police Department over accusations that she treated patients while intoxicated.
The police were called to the practice over concern she was inebriated, and upon arriving at the clinic noticed signs of intoxication and had Buck perform field sobriety tests, which she failed.
According to NBC DFW, Buck was not a permanent dentist at Pediatric Dentistry of Sherman and was contracted through dental placement platform Cloud Dentistry, though she had worked at the clinic before.
Pediatric Dentistry of Sherman posted a letter on Facebook explaining there was a “difficult situation” with one of their temp dentists at the clinic.
Buck was arrested for performing surgery while intoxicated, which is a state jail felony in Texas.
Buck’s attorney has denied the claims she was intoxicating, releasing a statement that read, “Mrs. Buck is not guilty of the charges she was arrested for. She has been a licensed dentist since 2016 and takes treating her patients very seriously.
“She looks forward to the blood results, as it will show that no drugs or alcohol were in her system. I anticipate that will clear her name so she can go back to taking care of her patients.”
