Residents of an apartment complex in Coppell are concerned about the growing number of feral hogs roaming around the property.
Kyle Young told NBC DFW, “These wild pigs are taking over and terrorizing everything, and we’re literally scared to come out at night. I’m just really nervous about someone getting hurt out here.”
Thus far, at least two adults and seven swine have been spotted at the complex, located off East Belt Line Road.
Feral swine are present in all but four of Texas' 254 counties and Randall Kennedy, with Dallas-Fort Worth Wildlife Control, said feral hogs pose a significant risk to people, pets, native wildlife and agriculture.
"Those guys coming up into the neighborhoods for food, that's going to get very, very risky," he said. "They definitely need to be trapped and removed before one of those gets a hold of somebody's pets or kids or that big one could even take down, you know, me or any full-grown man, no problem."

Coppell Animal Services says they mainly focus on domesticated animals and will call in specialists or state wildlife experts in circumstances posing a significant threat to public safety.
Young and other residents believe that risk is real now and hopes the feral hogs are trapped soon.
"You can’t outrun a pig, not at all," she said. "Our safe space should be here, and the pigs should stay back there," she said, pointing to the wooded area behind the complex.
