It seems every day there is a new report naming a new best restaurant in Texas. While many of these restaurants are deserving of the title, each list has different criteria, making it difficult to find which is truly the number one restaurant. However, a new report may have found the most scientific way of deciding which restaurant is actually the best, by examining the taste buds of food legend Guy Fieri.
Mashed recently unveiled a list of each state’s best restaurant, according to Guy Fieri. The report studied the 1,250 restaurants featured in Food Network’s television show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and determined which was the top choice. According to NBC DFW, the best restaurant in Texas is none other than DFW’s Pecan Lodge.

In the episode where Pecan Lodge is featured, Fieri quickly falls in love with the “Hot Mess,” a stuffed sweet potato smothered with brisket, chipotle cream cheese, and butter. The chef called the dish “unlike anything you’ve experienced in your life.” If it’s good enough for Guy Fieri, it’s worthy of the best restaurant in Texas title.
